Policies & Requirements
Effective September 6, 2026
These policies apply to every training, boarding, grooming, and pet-sitting/walking service booked with American Service K9s ("we," "us," or "ASK9"). By creating an account, submitting a booking request, or dropping off a pet, you ("client," "you") agree to the terms below. If you have questions about anything on this page, contact us before booking at 1-512-931-1243 or [email protected].
1. Vaccination & Health Requirements
Every dog must be current on the following before their first boarding stay, and before any service that involves contact with other animals:
- Rabies
- Bordetella (kennel cough)
- DHPP (distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza, parvovirus)
Proof must be uploaded to your pet's profile as a PDF or photo of the vaccination record. We review every submission and mark it Confirmed (with the date it's valid through), Not Accepted (with a reason, if the document is unclear, expired, or incomplete), or leave it Pending until reviewed. A pet cannot be booked for boarding unless its vaccination record is Confirmed and still valid through the entire length of the stay - an expiring record must be renewed and reconfirmed before it lapses, or the stay must be shortened to end before the expiration date.
We rely on the documents you provide and do not independently verify them with your veterinarian. Submitting an inaccurate, altered, or fraudulent vaccination record is a serious health and safety risk to every animal in our care and grounds for immediate termination of service without refund.
A dog showing signs of illness, parasites, or a contagious condition at drop-off may be turned away or sent home at your expense and at our sole discretion, to protect the health of every animal on the premises.
2. Cancellation, Deposit & No-Show Policy
Some services require a deposit or full payment at the time of booking; whether a deposit applies, and how much, depends on the service and is always shown to you before you submit a booking request. Boarding stays may carry a separate cancellation fee, calculated as a percentage of the stay total - that percentage is set by us and shown to you in the booking flow before you confirm.
Deposits and payments are non-refundable once collected. Cancelling a booking does not automatically refund any amount already charged. If you cancel with enough advance notice and in good standing, we may issue a full or partial refund at our discretion - contact us as soon as you know you need to cancel or reschedule, and we'll work with you.
No-shows - failing to show up for a scheduled appointment or boarding drop-off without contacting us - forfeit any deposit or payment already collected, with no refund, and may affect your ability to book with us again.
Need to reschedule instead of cancel? Message us or use the Reschedule option on your booking as early as possible - rescheduling with reasonable notice does not forfeit your deposit.
3. Liability & Medical Emergency Authorization
Working with, training, boarding, transporting, and grooming animals carries inherent risks, including but not limited to bites, scratches, illness, escape, injury to your pet, injury to another animal, or injury to a person. By booking with us, you acknowledge these risks and agree that American Service K9s, its owner, and its staff are not liable for injury, illness, loss, or damage arising from these inherent risks, except where caused by our gross negligence or willful misconduct.
Medical emergencies. If your pet needs emergency veterinary care while in our care and we cannot reach you (or the emergency contact on file) after a reasonable attempt, you authorize us to seek emergency veterinary treatment on your pet's behalf. You are responsible for all costs of that care, whether or not we were able to reach you first.
You confirm that you are the pet's legal owner (or have the owner's authorization to make these decisions on their behalf), and that all information you provide about your pet - including behavioral history and health conditions - is accurate and complete.
4. Behavioral & Aggression Policy
We reserve the right to refuse service to, or immediately end a session or boarding stay for, any dog that displays aggressive, dangerous, or unsafe behavior toward people or other animals - including biting, attempted biting, or behavior we judge to put staff, other animals, or the dog itself at risk. This decision is at our sole discretion and no refund is owed for the unused portion of a service ended for this reason.
You are responsible for any injury or damage your dog causes to our staff, another client's animal, or our property, including any resulting veterinary or medical costs. Please disclose any known bite history, reactivity, or aggression before booking - withholding this information puts everyone in our care at risk and is grounds for immediate termination of service without refund.
